Trailzilla Race Series at Sandy Bottom Nature Park

Join us for the Trailzilla Race Series at Sandy Bottom Nature Park, located at 1255 Big Bethel Road in Hampton, VA. This three-day event features summer trail running on dirt paths through a local city park at increasing distances. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, this event is suitable for all ages and ability levels.

Choose from four different courses and prices: the Trailzilla Fast 5K for $10.00, the Trailzilla Feel Good 4-Miler for $10.00, the Trailzilla Joe-Zilla 5-Miler for $30.00, or the Trailzilla Series-All 3 Events for $45.00. Participants in the Joe-Zilla 5-Miler and the full 3-race Trailzilla Series will receive race singlets.

The event is organized, conducted, and results generated by the Peninsula Track Club. Registration is open to the public and members of the Peninsula Track Club. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female, top 3 Masters (40 and over) male and female, top 3 Grand Masters (50 and over) male and female, top 3 Senior Masters (60 and over) male and female, top 3 Veteran Masters (70 and over) male and female, and top 3 male and female Walkers for each Trailzilla race. Winners will only receive one award (for the category in which they ranked the highest).

For the 3-race Trailzilla Series, awards will be given to the top overall male and female, top Masters (40 and over) male and female, top Grand Masters (50 and over) male and female, top Senior Masters (60 and over) male and female, top Veteran Masters (70 and over) male and female, and top male and female walker. To be eligible to win in this category, runners/walkers must complete all 3 Trailzilla races. Walkers must walk all 3 races to be eligible for top male/female walker. Tie-breaker for each category will be the ranking in the Joe-Zilla 5-Miler.

Awards for individual races will be based on runners/walkers ages on race day. Awards for the 3 race series will be based on runners/walkers ages on 6 June 2023, the date of the first race in the series. Walkers must walk the entire course. Walkers who jog or run any part of the course will be moved to the running category for the race and series.

Race day registration will be available for each race beginning 1-hour before race start. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Sandy Bottom Park. Don't miss out on this hot and sweaty summer running event in a fun-setting!
