About the Event

We are back for our 7th event! We look forward to welcoming everyone back for more NLD sweetness on Saturday the 11th May 2024 - and as ever we are continuing to donate all profits to the St Mary's Community Centre in London N16. As with previous events NLD 7 is a self supported gravel ride, over a (new for 2024) 70 mile / 110 km route heading out of North East London. Riders will start the day with a fresh brew from the legendary Workshop Coffee, enjoy a unique all surfaces loop - then finish with Magic Rock Brewing beer, pizza courtesy of our friends at Fairlight Cycles and swag from our partners back at the centre. The NLD Social at Rapha London On Thursday May 2nd, we're hosting our first ever NLD social get-together with our friends at Rapha. Just over a week out from the ride, all riders are invited to the Rapha Clubhouse in Soho for drinks, music and mingling. You'll get the chance to meet and mix with other riders, forge new friendships, ask us any final burning questions you may have and buy any last minute kit additions. To help ease the wallet, there will be a 15% discount on all of Rapha's Explore collection and riding accessories, for one night only. The sign up link will be sent to all attendees later this month. The amazing POC and Ortlieb are also joining us on the day with kit you can geek out on. OTE will once again bring their yummy energy bars and drinks to fuel riders and Shimano will once again be helping out with any 'mechanicals' you might have at the midway stop. We're delighted that Magic Rock are returning for that all important post-ride beverage. A big thanks to Gravel Union for their continued support of the event and community centre. Thank you, thank you, thank you guys! We are proud that North London Dirt is an event that welcomes EVERYONE. One of the reasons we both live in London is because of the diverse community that surrounds us. We want to see this inspiring mix of people reflected in the riders we see out on the road and trails too. Through R4U, Steezy and Rapha's community groups we're reaching out further to spread our message that we want to welcome riders from a wide range of backgrounds to experience the joy of North London Dirt. So, accordingly we have set aside ring-fenced tickets for these riders. Ride For Unity is a global community that celebrates our unity and diversity as cyclists. The Steezy Collective operates as a network for women and non-binary riders of various disciplines and skill levels. Our community partners will be leading group rides on the day, so if you want to be part of their crew... just sign up or ask us at the NLD Social. Details to follow... St Mary's Centre, N16. North London Dirt is again raising funds for the New St Mary's Centre in Stoke Newington N16 St Mary's is a centre that houses, amongst other things, the Second Chance cafe, the Hackney Migrant Centre and the local food bank. Some details here: stmaryscentren16.org. We've decided on a STRICT no-refunds policy for this event. As it's a fundraiser, we'd hope that people not making it on the day will be happy to sit back and feel good about making a donation either way... leaving that money in the pot for the centre. Right, bike stuff! You should ride a bike with tyres suitable off-road riding - bearing in mind you'd be pushing it a bit with slick narrow tyres on some of the mud/dirt/whatever. We were happiest on over 32mm gravel or 'cross tyres with a bit of tread. You will need to be totally self-supported, riding with everything you need to finish a ride of this length. We'd suggest carrying two spare tubes and regular tool kit. We will send out a .gpx and .tcx file on the WEDNESDAY before the event to ticket holders, so you'll have time to load-up a GPS(there will be no signage so some kind of GPS / phone for navigation is ESSENTIAL). DISCLAIMER! This is the bit where we say: We, the organisers have no responsibility for riders or their bikes in any way on this event. Good riding, good coffee, good beer, good vibes... AND you're doing your bit for charity. Gravel for good! See you from 6.30am for a start from 7am. SATURDAY 11th May 2024. Andrew and Philip
