Big Red Shoe Run 2024

Seventh annual BIG RED SHOE RUN Run-Walk-Dash 5K for Ronald McDonald House Charities - South Western Ontario. This 5k IN PERSON event, has been a staple of the RMHC community for SEVEN years now and each year grows bigger and bigger. We encourage your families and loved ones to stay close, just as the Ronald McDonald House does, so team participation is encouraged! As always we love to see our community come together to help a charity that is so near and dear to our heart. From Tilbury to LaSalle, Leamington to Windsor, we have participants and sponsors from all over the county meeting at Atlas Tube Center to raise funds for RMHC Windsor! So let's RUN at the oppourtunity to have some fun this spring, get sweaty, get healthy, crush goals and make a difference!

A little bit about where we started: In 2017 Julie Dennis, co-founder of the Big Red Shoe Run had the idea to host a 5k walk for McHappy Day fundraising efforts. In collaboration with Melissa Eagen, they embarked on the not so simple journey to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Windsor. In working with our outstanding partners - WRACE and the management team of RMHC Windsor, we have been able to build community relationships and take on sponsors that have been with us since the beginning. Valiant TMS and Prime Electrical have shown us what community support means year after year, even during the virtual events, they gave what they could to support the run and ultimately RMHC. Our forever partner, McDonald's Canada graciously provides food, beverage, volunteers and time for each and every Big Red Shoe Run. What many don't know about Big Red Shoe Run is that this event is a kick off fundraiser lead by McDonald's owner operators locally, in the Windsor, to support McHappy Day annually. The first Wednesday of May, McDonald's Canada hosts McHappy Day where a portion of all profits made goes to RMHC. As it goes, we host the Big Red Shoe Run at the end of April - rain or shine (more rain) to showcase and ignite the McHappy Day events locally. In the six years of BRSR we have raised nearly $500,000 locally for BRSR. That is because of the amazing people of Windsor-Essex. We've always told people, Windsor takes care of Windsor and you have all shown that to be true! Now, as we embark on the seventh year of Big Red Shoe Run, we hope to see returning faces and new faces, young and older, RMHC families, McDonald's families and everyone in between.
