About the Event

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is committed to organizing Drug Dropoff Days throughout the state to provide Ohioans with opportunities to responsibly dispose of expired, unused and/or unneeded prescription medications. These special events help to mitigate the risk of potential misuse of the drugs by family members, friends or others – and are especially vital in light of the persistent opioid epidemic. Since the program’s inception, the Attorney General’s Office has hosted six Drug Dropoff Days, collecting more than 2,500 pounds of dated or unwanted medications.

To continue raising awareness of the importance of proper disposal of prescription drugs, Yost’s office is collaborating on the next Drug Dropoff Day with the Columbus Crew, NBC4 and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office – and turning it into a community event, including 5-kilometer fun run/walk.

On Sept. 7, the public is invited to participate in the run/walk, which will finish in Lower.com Stadium, home of the Crew. The drug-collection site will also be inside the stadium, as will educational resources and family-friendly activities.

The gathering is intended to foster community engagement and help the public understand the dangers of opioids, thereby promoting a healthier and safer Ohio for all. All are welcome!
